Thus, giving you the chance to choose from more than one intake each year, e.g. if you have missed out on the spring intake this year, you can try for the next intake in September or January instead of waiting for a complete year to lapse.
Intake options
The majority of Universities in the UK offer two intakes, that being January to May and September to December. A few universities also offer a small intake in Summer that begins in April.
Intakes vary on the basis of the courses and Universities. At certain Universities intakes may also be referred to as terms or semesters. You must always check the official website of your selected university and confirm the next available intake.
Why do these universities in the UK offer two major intakes?
Each University receives several thousand applications each and every year, this becomes a great challenge to accommodate a large number of new students in the one intake.
The Universities have options available for students for the May intake due to any possible difficulties that students may face, if they are not able to join for the October intake.

Which intake do students predominantly prefer?
The majority of students prefer the September intake, as it works with their completion of undergraduate courses in their home country.
Students working on research programs often opt for the September intake, since a number of professors choose to start their research in the beginning of the year. Internships is easier to obtain in the January intake.
